How do you know?

What a fitting day to start blogging May 21, 2011.  The end of the world is coming, some crazy radio religion is saying at 6pm today.  Here it is 6:18 and here I still am.
Isn't the truth the end of the world is coming everyday?  We have no idea, how long humanity will be here, how long our oceans will last, our water supplies our food supply?  Hell, we have no idea when we ourselves will be gone.  You never know.  We really know nothing.

Believers, Believe, Seekers Seek.  But in the end, do you know anything for sure?

The only thing I know for sure right now is, the sun is shining, my children are bantering in the living room and Sam is driving home from work.  And I should be starting dinner, but instead I am writing a blog, that I have no idea if it will even ever be read.  And even those things could change in a blink of an eye.

There are so many things we don't know.  Most recently, we had no idea that our government for months, almost a year knew where Bin Laden was, watching him, planning an attack.  All of us, just going about our lives until suddenly on a Sunday night, regular broadcasting was interrupted on our TV's, or maybe you were on Facebook and saw a post, or were working and heard on the radio, received a text, and for some didn't know anything happened until the morning because they were already sleeping.

 Osama Bin Laden was dead.

My point is, really we know nothing.  Life is day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute.  Do we really have any control?

How do you make choices, when you have no idea what the future will bring, or if there is a future at all.  And when you make choices, you have no idea if it the right path, beautifully laid out cobblestone, or a disaster of potholes and roots to trip and stumble over.

It is like driving in thick fog, you can't see what is ahead of you.

We just don't know.
